in-between, 2010 (5 min.)

in-between remixes the overall idea and structure of Seven slides from a yard sale. It is an experimental
video that merges still and moving images using a variety of techniques, from painted textures and 8mm
film to slide projections and Facebook screenshots. The sense of illusive movement present in Seven
slides is expanded to include a layered, collage aesthetic that perhaps captures the cognitive process of
multimedia and multitasking. By juxtaposing fragments of websites with media from the past, we are
encouraged to question changes in perception and participation - the temporal moments of this process
are presented as appropriated glanced and repetitive motions. The essence of time is questioned, not
only in terms of combining old and new media but in terms of our attention span.
